Allerton Project shortlisted for National Recycling Awards 2014

We're very proud to announce that our Allerton Project farm has been nominated in this year's National Recycling Awards.

In fact we haven't just been nominated, we've been voted through as a finalist by a panel of 23 expert judges from the world of recycling.

A number of the other nominees are major organisations including M&S, John Lewis, B&Q, Procter & Gamble, Network Rail, DHL, npower and the Environment Agency.

We've been shortlisted in the Resource Management Business of the Year (Small) category for our farm plastics recycling operation.

The winners will be announced on 3rd July. In the meantime you can find out more about our recycling operation here.

Black Silage Wrap

From the 4th February 2014 Allerton Recycling will be unable to handle bulk silage wrap which has been stored outside or has excessive grass and mud contamination.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to place such contaminated plastics. Plastic film should be cleaned before bagging and stored undercover before delivery to Allerton Recycling. Staff have been instructed to reject excessively dirty plastics.

It has always been our intention to keep recycling fees as low as possible. Silage and netting wrap cleanliness is paramount to us being able to reprocess this material economically.

New Collection Dates and Conditions for 2013

New Baler Arrives

The new horizontal baler arrived at Allerrton Recycling two weeks ago and staff had to improvise to locate baler in the shed.

Jubilee waste collection

Please note due to the Queens Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday, Allerton Recycling June collection will be a week later on Tuesday 12th June.

The site will be open for business from 8.00am to 5.00pm on:

A Transfer Note will be provided when you deliver your plastics.

Spray Cans
Please can we remind all members that foils and caps need to be placed in two seperate plastic bags. PET cans (eg.Starane, Cypermethrin, Galera,Pastor)should be kept seperate from other HDPE cans.

BASF Helps Agricultural Industry

BASF launched its new spray can today, its easier to wash and recyle. For more information click on the link on BASF picture (right)

This container addresses a number of practical problems for spray operators and recyclers. Including central opening for easy pouring, plastic labels, no foil, easy rinsing - easier disposal options for polymers in can and perhaps the best attribute is there is 20% less plastic in the container.
